The Olympic Rings at the Opening Ceremonies
The night I've been waiting for finally came 31 Wow, was it ever exciting. Not my favorite opening ceremonies, but right now, I'm totally feeling the Olympic love 1 Overall, I was awed and everything got me really pumped! And now, I shall move forward with what I loved the most with the ceremonies!!! (BTW, writing this from the viewpoint of an American so I will sway to the American side more)

Day 1

Sunday, Feb 12, 2006 - 7:37 am

Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy
And the games began 1 Since I'm in America, things are severely delayed 7 So much of this was seen later in the night and by the time it was all done, it was bedtime 15

My highlight of the night was the pairs figure skating short program. Overall, I was really impressed by Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy from Germany. Their program was absolutely lovely. It was a shame there was that little slipup... But they did do really well :D The American pair were lovely as well. Everyone was talking about the throw triple Axel they had up their sleeves and I was very happy they performed it flawlessly even though they didn't socre higher. Also, I must give cheers to China. They were superb although not good enough to overtake Russia. I'll be looking forward to the freeskate!

Unfortunately, I missed much of the ski jumping event as well as the speed skating from yesterday so I don't have many comments about that.

As for the Women's Moguls... those were so much fun to watch even though I really didn't know any of the competitors. None of them especially impressed me 'cos I'm not too experienced in viewing and evaluating Moguls at all. It still was exciting.

I also took a look at the men's luge... Hmm... I don't get that much either. And there was also hockey... I skipped it as well.

Well, that was my day one. Not much excitement to get me stoked, but now I'm ready for day two... if only I could hold off from watching Desperate Housewives...

Day 2

Super wicked!
It's late 22

However, yesterday was exciting for the men's snowboarding competetion. I was on the end of my seat watching them fly through the air... Before the games, I was all about Danny Kass. Loved him from Salt Lake City games and remember his fabulous silver medal-winning run. And again he repeats his fabulousness, although the USA did not sweep again. And on top was the guy they call the flying tomato... Shaun White. I'd only heard of him like a day or so before the game (I really don't follow snowboarding that much so even though he's been big, I just haven't seen him before). He gave an awesome run even after he bogged up his first finals-qualifying run. Overall, the guys were superb.

Before I move onto other things, I shall go on a tangent... NBC is pissing me off with their coverage 22 While America always gets cameratime, if it's not a big sport and the competitor is not a favourite for the medal, they don't show it! 32 It kinda upsets me. I really want to see the others and how they fared. But no... With that kind of coverage, the Olympics are losing a bit of their excitement.

Now... Oh no Ohno! (bad pun 31)

Day 3

Tuesday, Feb 14, 2006 - 3:14 pm

Mmmm! Tasty!

So much happened!!!! 26

First of all, congrats to the US Women's Snowboard Team! Although only two of them medaled, all of them made it to the final and showed off some wicked moves. I haven't followed the girls much at all, so I don't have much to say. But I did enjoy the show that all of them put on! It didn't have as much flair as the boys (a 900 was all it took for the girls to wow the judges while boys needed 1080s for the judges to even pay attention to them), but those are some of the cutest little snowboarders ever...

And speaking of snowboarders, there was a cute group that I did not get to see due to NBC not showing thier runs.
