After much consideration of time, they decide to go see a movie. The excitement wears her out so that she falls asleep until well after school has ended. NANA 17 (Opinion only)
It's been a long strange ride with NANA... Or at least it has felt like it. After a long string of mediocricy in the anime (with all the re-capping and then backtracking, it's really nice to be getting into the real meat of the series (Hachi's life post-Sachiko, more about Nana's life outside of Blast) finally. Hachi finally finds out about Ren and Nana. All that stuff Nana's been talking about (her "Ren" flower tattoo, wanting Shin to surpass Ren) has finally clicked with Hachi. Also, it's interesting to note Nana switching her brand of cigarettes which becomes more evident in later chapters.

Bokura ga Ita 4 (Opinion only)
After a bit of story and backstory and liking each other, but not liking each other, the ultimate shoujo moment happens: they kiss. Yano confessed his love for Nana after the cultural festival and they kissed. Of course, you know from the beginning they're going to end up together but there's just something special about that first kiss in a shoujo series. And then after that, the next precious scene is of course the first time (which shall prove to be very very silly when it gets to that point in the anime). Look forward to it my friends!

Ouran High School Host Club 17 (Opinion only)
[Due to a possible disruption in Internet access, I will be doing opinions only instead of summaries for anime until further notice]
A nice slow-paced episode with mostly Kyoya. It's nice to see him more relaxed and a little less cool and calculating (although the other side of him is evil and just plain evil). The funniest moment was perhaps the your-mom's-looking-for-you-in-Wal-Mart moment (you know where they call your name over the intercom) however, they did more than call a name. They gave a full discription so all eyes were on Kyoya

The Idol M@ster

The idol group (think Morning Musume) creation arcade game is now hitting home consoles with The Idol M@aster for the XBOX360. Build relationships with one of 10 young girls. Add vocal training, dance lessons, and two other companions and you will be able to pimp out your own idol group. The best part of the game is possibly the ability to dress them up in all sorts of frilly little outfits

Back when the arcade version came out, I said that I would just HAVE to buy the home version. Well, it looks like I need a 360 then

It's summer vacation and Nana is a bit sad that she can't see Yano. When she goes to school to practice, Yano isn't there and Takeuchi shows her a message saying that he can't come because he has something important to do and she takes this as him flaking out. Back at home, Nana gets a call from her friend asking if she wants to go to the festival. She agrees sheepishly until she reveals that Yano mis gonna be there. Then she quickly gets up and goes looking for a yukata. However, Yano doesn't show up, but her friends are there telling her how cute and perfect she looks. She ends up going through the activities of the festival as usual. During the fireworks, it's revealed to Nana by Takeuchi that Yano hasn't been around because it's the anniversary of the other Nana's death. So the next day, she pays a visit to his house and they look through some pictures together and Nana's surprised he has not a single picture of his former girlfriend. Before leaving, Nana lets him know that even though the person who he really loved is no longer around, there is someone who does really really like him and that he's always looking after him.
The next day, he shows up at school for practice and the two of them end up tryin on happi, Nana a red on, and Yano a white one. He says that she looks good in red, just like her Yukata. She wonders how he knew and she shows a picture on his cellphone that Takeuchi sent to him. He reveals that he wished he could have gone. He leans in on her and requests a hug and she agrees.
The next part is mostly a flashback about Yano's relationship with the other Nana beginning with when they met in the form of Yano's dream. They hooked up together while she was still dating someone else and she was still seeing him even though she and Yano were together. During their time together, Yano often notices bruises on her body. She tries to just ignore them, but Yano wants her to stop dating him. Then suddenly one summer day, he gets a phone call telling him that she died. In the real world, Yano wakes up and wonders why no one woke him and Nana says he looks like he was having a good dream.

Ouran High School Host Club 16

This episode begins where the last one left off. Arai-kun has come by the place where Haruhi is working to deliver groceries and they are very surprised to see each other. The other members of the host club gather around Arai and Haruhi as they catch up (they went to jr high together) except for the twins, they sat to the side obviously seeping with envy. With the memories flowing back, Arai reveals that he asked Haruhi out shortly before she left for Ouran, but she misunderstood it and she really just realised it and went in shock with the rest of the guys and she appologizes for the mistake. They continue talking about the past and Hikaru simply can't take it anymore and basically says that he doesn't care about any of her old friends. Haruhi didn't take it lightly and promptly went over to slap him. Angry, he explodes saying that the only people who can be friends with her are him and the rest of the host club and he storms off to his room and Kaoru follows him to scold him.

Demashitaa! Powerpuff Girls Z 3

So the girls have taken Buttercup back to the lab and of course, she's super-upset about the whole skirt thing, but everyone just says that it's stylish and looks good on her. Then the professor shoots her with the detransformation beam and she is beyond happy to be in her normal clothes. Kaoru is confused about the whole Powerpuff thing and Momoko and Miyako quickly explain what they do. Kaoru suddenly reflects on transforming into Buttercup and gets frustrated over the whole skirt thing and she doesn't want to be a Powerpuff Girl because of it. Miyako calls out her name and she's curious how she knows her name. Turns out, they go to the same school and they quickly try to all be friends. Then the Mayor comes up to the girls and they shock him by not knowing who he is (they think of him in several jobs) and then he introduces himself explaining that he wants their help in protecting Tokyo City. Momoko and Miyako agree, but Kaoru flat-out insults the Mayor and refuses and tries to run away. However, Peach triggers their transformation and they all transform spontaneously. Again, Buttercup is upset about the skirt because it makes her look like a woman, but Bubbles quickly points out that she is a girl afterall. Buttercup quickly catches on that Peach triggered the transformation and she chases after him destroying everything in her path. The only thing that stops her is a sheet held by Blossom and Buttercup and she slams into a supercomputer. After dusting herself off, she realises that she has amazing powers even though she's dressed like a girl and then she agrees to be a Powerpuff Girl. Then Miss Bellum presents the rules: You must keep your identity as a PPG [that's a FREAKIN' LONG word!] a secret, do not break the laboratory, and do not fight. However, the girls have their own rules. Blossom thinks that she should eat snacks in the lab as she pleases, Bubbles thinks she should read fashion mags as she pleases, and Buttercup of course thinks she should watch the sports channel as she pleases.

NANA 15

Instead of going home, Nana and Hachi wait for Shoji to finish with work since Shoji had to talk with her. Inside, Shoji and Sachiko are feeling very guilty and Shoji tells her that he's breaking up with his girlfriend which causes her to run out. He quickly chases after her and outside, Hachi and Nana hear the door open and figure it's him, but it's just Sachiko. Then they hear him call out Sachiko's name. With Nana's return is a letter from home and she quickly discovers that it's the tickets to the Tranest concert she was waiting for tickets for. Front row seats! However, the news isn't all that exciting to Nana.
Possibly one of the best stories from the manga... It took them long enough to get to this point...

Demashitaa! Powerpuff Girls Z 2

This episode is one episode divided in two that introduces Bubbles. In the first half, Ken and the professor have kidnapped Blossom and want to examine her so they can return her to normal. After a bit of complaining, they begin explaining what happened to her and she begins to understand a few of the events that have taken place including the weird white light and the animals being released. She seems pissed off, but frankly, she's happy being a transforming heroine so she doesn't have to be tied down and Ken quickly unties her. Immediately, Peach finds a friend and off in the distance, Bubbles is bouncing around. Blossom takes a closer look and wonders if she's a rival, enemy or friend, but it's an ally rather. Meanwhile, Bubbles comes upon Mojo and literally walks all over him without a single thought. He repeatedly tries to attack her, but she's just being so carefree that he can't lay a finger on her. Blossom and the others come upon Bubbles and Mojo and lands on top of the van spilling all his candy out - some of which is hers. After having a gathering match, he runs off and she chases him. Bubbles is amazed to see someone skipping like her and follows Blossom and Mojo until they stop. Bubbles just sees him as a plaything, but Blossom lets her know to her (and his) surprise that he is a bad monkey and they should fight him. They team together and knock him unconcious. The Mayor's van comes up and picks up Mojo so they can examine him. Meanwhile, Buttercup is running around with a cold all because of her skirt.

NANA 14

Ryosuke and Shoji meet for ramen and Shoji slyly asks if he's ever cheated and Ryosuke sees right through him and figures that he did cheat on Hachi with Sachiko. Shoji tries to rationalize his actions by finding if there was even the smallest moment in which Ryosuke wanted to cheat on Jun. However, he just states that Jun is the love of his life and walks out. Hachi's got her new job, but it's not nearly as great as she'd hope since her superior is always on her case as she illustrates to Shoji while they're out to eat. However, he doesn't say much and Hachi feels like they're really drifting apart and she has no idea why. All of the stress she's feeling is taking its toll on her, but when she comes home, she's met by Nana's megawatt smile and she reveals that they're going to have their first real concert soon and they celebrate.
Meanwhile, Shoji and Sachiko are getting chummy at her place and Hachi calls. Sachiko exits the room to let them talk. Hachi invites him to Blast's performance, but he turns down the invite. Immediately after, he goes out to the balcony and hugs Sachiko. The next day, Ryosuke drops the bomb to Jun letting her know that Shoji did indeed cheat on Hachi. She's in disbelief, but he explains that it really is so even though Shoji's not the cheating type. Jun asks if Hachi knows, but Ryosuke says that she doesn't and she wonders if it would be possible for Shoji to just have the fling and keep it from him, but he's not really covering things up. Jun calls Hachi and tries to tell her, but the timing is inconvenient so she ends up covering for Shoji instead.
Later on, Hachi and Blast appear at Shoji's restaurant by surprise and Sachiko comes across Hachi for the first time and she's scared to shakes. She runs out and tells Shoji that they should end it because he already has a wonderful girlfriend and that he shouldn't be hurting her. However, he's quite upset by this. He goes back to work and informs Hachi that he wants to talk to her after work. Hachi says that if Nana weren't there, she would have certainly killed herself.

Ouran High School Host Club 14

The newspaper club is in danger of closing because no one cares anything for the newspaper, mainly because it's full of gossip. However, the host club's magazines have been hit sellers schoolwide. So, they get the idea to do a story on the host club. Tamaki thinks that they should be sure to show off how much fun the club has, but little does he know that they have plans to try to expose Tamaki (however, everyone else sees clearly). In reality, there's nothing to expose on Tamaki and the rest of the club defends him recalling the times when they were all befriended by Tamaki. The newspaper club president decides to ruin all of the host club members, but thanks to some quick thinking (and a hidden MD recorder) Kyoya saved this from happening and also made the newspaper club turn around and begin printing truthful articles.
This was mainly a Tamaki episode and we learn a few things about him. One of the most touching parts is of his childhood. He never had any friends his age because his mother was sickly and he was always staying by her side playing the piano, so now that he's older, he's enjoying his childhood now. Also, through Kyoya, Haruhi realises that the reason that she's at the school is because of Tamaki's family which was of great shock to her.
While a whole lot of people consider these types of episodes to be boring or not as good as the others, I dearly enjoy episodes like this that are like a window into these characters. Also, it's moments like this that make me love Tamaki even more. Sure he's annoying and is also used a lot for comic relief, he's probably the most honest, pure-hearted, and endearing character of all of them although he's not always as level-headed as Kyoya.

Last week in anime!
Once again, I'm late and backlogged and trying to navigate new anime and old anime and just being plain lazy

Here's the last week (not this current just past week) in anime!
Ouran High School Host Club 13

This episode flashes back to when Haruhi first came to Ouran to register, but tells it as if it were Alice in Wonderland. All the recurring characters make appearances (as well as one-hit characters) as different characters from the story. All of them try to tell Haruhi that there's more to life than studying and that she should enjoy her time at Ouran with the new friends she has. The most surprising of the characters that shows up is her own mother as the queen. She almost embraces her, but is awakened by the host club all dressed up as characters from Alice in Wonderland hinting to the manga chapter this ep takes from.

NekoKoneko for Nintendo DS Browser
In celebration of the Nintendo DS Browser coming out later this month, I've made a special version of my website for the pint-sized browser that'll rest at http://nekokoneko.aulddragon.com/ds.
You can check out a preview
here. Be aware that it's not quite ready, but in they days before the release, the page ought to be ready to go. And after I get my own copy (or someone with a copy views the site), I'll make neccessary tweaks to the site. Enjoy!

Bokura ga Ita 1

Bokura ga Ita has begun! There's not a very big fanbase for this show, so I'm very happy to see an anime for this show. Judging by the pace (episode 1 covered chapters 1 and 2 of the manga) it'll go through the current manga offerings quite quickly

The OP is a cute arrangement of almost still images of Nana and Yano's simple lovey-doveyness (in case you haven't guessed, they do end up together... the OP spoils any curiosity you may have :D)

Demashitaa! Powerpuff Girls Z 1

It's finally here! The once rumored, the once thought of as an April Fool's joke Demashitaa! Powerpuff Girls Z! As expected the cuteness level is sky high. However, the show feels so much like Doremi especially from the transformation scenes.

Like the original, each episode is divided into 2 15-minute episodes. Enjoy~
