New drama in Japan: ギャルサー(Galsa)

Beginning on Saturday, April 15 2006, NTV will begin airing the drama
Galsa! As the title implies, the show is about a galsa (alternatively spelled gyarusa) called Angel Heart. A cowboy from Texas (who appears to be originally from Japan) comes back to Japan in hopes of finding his daughter. He then befriends a member of Angel Heart hoping it'll help him find her. And he soon finds out that this girl is different from others.
The cast includes former Morning Musume member Yaguchi Mari.
And for those who don't know, galsa is short for gal circle (ギャルサークル) where circle means something like club and the gal are the trendy girls (mostly in mid-teens~early 20s) you see parading around looking stylish. Galsa mainly go around to events dressed similarly and often make a big splash. One popular galsa is
Angeleek. They're quite popular in the gal mags often appearing on their pages and in clubs.
That's it for now. I need to pour over the details of the show :D

Ever had your day being totally made?
Well, this woman who wants to thank an
Anonymous Vietnamese Woman surely did. She went in for a bikini wax and got more than she ever imagined (in a good way

). It's an almost emotional read

Preliminary Review: Tetris DS
I've had Tetris DS for just a little over 24 hours now. I think I'm really amazed at how wonderful the game is and how it's been updated. It's more than just the classic game of falling blocks, but there are now new modes that'll challenge those who have been playing Tetris in every form over the years. That's just the single-player modes! Wi-Fi has 3 modes: 2-player, 4-player, and Push. I've been enjoying Push mostly myself

Playing online is really fun. I imagined the 4-player mode to be somewhat like Tetrinet. However, the games are much quicker and extremely frantic. There are only a few items but those few items can either give you the upper hand or make other players' games miserable.
Over the past day, I've more than enjoyed reliving the past, not only in the game itself, but in the classic Nintendo graphics. Very very pretty game. Look for my full review soon! I must get back to playing!

The Nintendo Revolution = SEXY

Today was Sony's time to speak at the GDC. They said a lot of amazing things about the PS3 and cleared up some more details about their plans for the future. Of course, E3's when they're gonna do some big talking but this news excited some people. However, it did nothing to me.
However, some
new pictures of the Revolution popped up. Just seeing the back of the system got me really excited

Something about those two USB ports... Mmmm, I'm looking forward to Iwata's speech tomorrow.

It's time for some pimping!
It was difficult trying to find a category for this. I doubt many of you have heard
my little secret, but now you can hear my little not-so-secret. I participated in the roundtable for
4colorrebellion's podcast Saturday before last and it is included with this week's
podcast. I love the site, love the podcast (hopefully it's good this week the week I'm in

) so enjoy! The guys are great and I had a good time even though I was nervous as heck!

Now little Japanese girls can manage their money!

The website for
StyleBook has recently gone live! If you aren't familiar with the game from the stories that have appeared on other gaming sites, StyleBook is a planner program for the Nintendo DS for the tween market in Japan. With this non-game, girls can track their spending habits, keep a diary (and share it with friends with comments to boot!), plan their lives, keep on schedule, and keep track of who they're friends with (so neccessary at that age!

)! Not only that, each version of the game comes with a carrying case for their Nintendo DS.
This non-game comes out in Japan on the 23rd of this month retailing at the hefty price of 5800 yen. It comes in three varieties: Cinnamoroll, Junior City, and Fushigiboshi no Futago-hime Gyu! (the show's upcoming season). Get it for your inner little Japanese girl :D

Revolution in June? O rly?

So says a new rumor! The Nintendo Revolution as early as June. Well, Nintendo was saying for a little while that it would be released in the second half of 2006 so maybe that's where they're getting it from. But wow, if it did, that would certainly be overwhelming

Just the thought of the Revolution being this close... And we haven't even seen a single screen yet! However, that won't be so for long. The Game Developer's Conference is next week. While it isn't that big for news, things do slip out there. Also, E3 is right around the corner and that's when Nintendo is definitely going to put all their cards on the table concerning the Revolution.
Oh yeah, while I'm at it, here's my word on the official name of the Revolution!

New category
Now there's a new category for anime to bring in the new anime season beginning next month! The icon is to the left. Why did I choose the icon of two people kissing? I dunno. I was going through the various e-moji and I couldn't find a single TV so I just chose the first thing that looked decent. That was it. Hopefully later I'll find something better. That is all. Look forward to almost daily anime updates!

With this, my life will be made complete

Now, you may or may not know this... but I love Hello Kitty. And you probably also know that I love my iPod nano dearly. And maybe for some odd reason, you know that I've been looking for an FM transmitter for my car... Well, I think all my loves have been combined in one! Spectra International (the company that produces like all the Hello Kitty licensed goods stateside) has come out with the
Hello Kitty FM transmitter for iPod nano. I don't know where it's available for purchase at, but hopefully I'll find it. And I hope that it doesn't cost as much as Id imagine for an iPod FM transmitter with Hello Kitty's face on it

My main concern about it... It looks like there'd be no way to charge and use it at the same time... A small sacrifice for something that's compact and can be used with a skin.
Also included on the site are not
one, but
two Hello Kitty iPod speakers... I fear the price of them, but I must say I totally want!
And speaking of other Hello Kitty iPod nano stuff I didn't know about...
Hello Kitty protective films (
Japanese only). Even though I've got a happy pink silicone skin on mine, I wouldn't mind a little Hello Kitty or Charmmy Kitty jazzing it up along with a nice little cleaning cloth!

1990s Sega ads from the UK

"The more you play with it, the harder it gets!" Could that really be a line from a video game ad? Well, if you were in the UK during the 90s and paid attention to Sega's ads, you may have seen some things that proved one of Sega's stateside lines: "Sega does what Nintendon't"
They surely did!

What if The Simpsons were real?

The creators of the show did that and filmed this live-action version of the opening. It's pretty nifty. A little surreal, but overall, cool.

Torino minisite and other stuff
The Olympics are long over so now all the Olympic goodies from this year (in order from beginning to end) has been placed on its own special minisite. Check out
Torino 2006 to relive what I thought was important and whatnot. And like a long time ago, I updated
BGB with the second Non-Yaoi Yaoi I ever made... I failed to mention it at the time

So if you haven't seen it, feel free to take a look!

Escape games
Like point and click adventures? Like trying to figure your way out of things? Love being furstrated? Well, my friend, what you need is a good escape game. I'm not sure of the true name of them, but all of them involve you trying to get out of a room using items hidden around the room that all work together. Here's a few I've been enjoying today (flash needed):
THE BAR - I was linked to this earlier today. It's prolly one of the most challenging 'cos there's no audio feedback. However, the result is a sense of accomplishment.
Fasco-csc - This is home of the original Crimson Room as well as the more complicated Viridian Room, White Chamber, and the EXTREMELY EASY Blue Chamber. Test yourself and see if you can escape.

A ton of faceless Akiba can't be wrong!

The
DS Lite has hit Japan and the above was the scene in Akihabara as well as other areas in Japan where fine gaming goods can be bought. This is surely well-appreciated after Japan has gone so long without a healthy supply of DS units (although the number of units available may be too few to satisfy everybody). Good luck Nintendo.

Of course, several had to be met with signs saying "Sold Out" so good luck to those who've waited since last year to get a DS!

Review: Morning Musume - Rainbow 7

Congrats on Morning Musume reaching their 7th album! With this album, I feel that the Morning Musume I love so much is back! There's a lot of high energy songs on the album (which they're known for) and some beautiful ballads. Last night, I used this album to go to sleep to. I brought my iPod nano in bed with me, put my headphones on and went off into dream land. Even though the songs were high energy, I was able to go to sleep quite comfortably and easily. That's a weird thing to include I guess

But still, I enjoyed listening to this album so much, I just had to let it be the last sounds I heard as I fell asleep. Here's my impressions on the individual tracks:
- HOW DO YOU LIKE JAPAN?! ~Nihon wa Donna Kanji Dekka?~

A great song to get pumped up to! It has a great beat.
- THE MANPOWER!!!

I never liked this song that much as a single, but hearing it on the album, it just felt better.
- Aozora ga Itsumademo Tsuduku You na Mirai de Are!

To tell the truth, this song isn't very memorable...
- Osaka Koi no Uta

Again, another song I didn't really like much as a single, but it grew on me instantly.
- INDIGO BLUE LOVE

This is a great ballady song that I can't get out of my head! I love it so much!
- Rainbow Pink

A very moe cute song. I love the revelation they make towards the end of the song
- Iroppoi Jirettai

I loved this song as a single and of course I love it now. It was the first song I ever listened to on my iPod
- Mushoku Toumei na Mama de

A very very very beautiful song. Incredibly relaxing with great harmonies.
- Purple Wind

A nice upbeat song that for the longest I was mistaking them saying "Purple Window"
- Sayonara SEE YOU AGAIN Adios BYE BYE Chaccha!

A total fan song that again is very moe. It makes me feel close to all the girls.
- Chokkan 2 ~Nogashita Sakana wa Ookii Zo!~ (Mattaku Sono Toori Remix)

The single version I couldn't get outta my head, and now even more so, it's in there and I couldn't be happier.
- Joshi Kashimashi Monogatari 3

A THIRD Joshi Kashimashi Monogatari!!! I wouldn't complain if they kept doing more of them. The girls are all very silly and have the cutest personalities
Overall, I have to give it

!!! In my opinion, it's their best album since 4th Ikimasshoi! They'll have to get every previous member of Morning Musume together to do an album before another album can surpass how good that one was!
