Didn't watch the last events of the games, but I did watch the closing ceremonies. I almost didn't want to watch. It meant that the Olympics were done with and I'd be experiencing the pains of withdrawal
There were several high moments in the ceremony. The atletes all entered the stadium with smiles on their faces. Even though it was the end, the ceremonies were just so happy and light-hearted. Lots of good performances and then came the saddest moment:
The flame was extinguished... It was a sad moment, but it happened so suddenly with someone just turning off the gas. I liked it best in Athens where the little girl "blew" it out. And then after that... Ricky Martin?! I was confused with him performing. I love him, but he's just plain washed out now.
I loved the Olympics this year. Even though Team USA was mostly hype, I still cheered them on and I'm rather proud. The other participating countries gave it a good effort and I was able to see what the world was able to offer. Next Olympics will begin 08-08-08 in Beijing China. I'm counting down the days.
As well...
See ya in Vancouver!
However, this doesn't end my Torino 2006 coverage. Hold tight for my look back at Torino 2006!
Well you're sure to LOVE MMO Pong! You really have teammates who are controlling a paddle on either side. You're all working together for no cause at all!
Once again, Utada Hikaru does both the Japanese and English theme songs for Kingdom Hearts. For the new Kingdom Hearts II, the song is called "Sanctuary" and is basically a new set of lyrics sung on top of "Passion". It's really not that good. The conversion from "Hikari" to "Simple and Clean" was much better. It really doesn't sound like Hikki at all. More like an amateur. But things may change once there's a full version out. The above clip is only a small sampling of the song.
Yep, he takes the gold in the 500m short track final and leave Ahn Hyun-Soo of Korea in his shaved ice However, the night wasn't without its heart-stopping moments. In the semifinals, Apolo actually came in 3rd but Li Jiajun of China (who was ahead of Apolo) was disqualified allowing him to advance to the finals where he stayed in first the entire race. It was as they said a perfect race. And once again, they talk about Apolo's soul patch on NBCOlympics:
The soul-patched American was one of the most feted athletes at the Salt Lake Games, where he won a gold and a silver in thrilling races.
Of all his features, I think I like his eyes and smile the most (and his hair as well )
He further went on to help his team win bronze in the relay.
Couldn't say the same for Bode Miller of the US He was the great American hype hope for gold in Alpine skiing but he failed at even coming anywhere near the podium in the 5 events he participated in. I guess this doesn't look all that great for him. First, he goes on the record talking about how he enjoys skiing drunk... I'm sure those words are going to come back and bite him now that he's coming home empty-necked.
And the Olympics are almost over... I've almost made it!
